My name is Andrew Bratcher, in August of 2001 I was sitting in my living room playing with clay. I had made a small fish cross that was an ichthus with a cross on top of it. The unique thing about this ichthus and cross was that unlike most that you see with the tail down, this one had the tail up and the cross beam of the cross went right through the spot where the lines of the tail and body crossed. I thought it was neat because the top of the center beam and the ends of the tail made three points that could be symbolic of the trinity. So I decided to make a larger one. After I had formed the cross I was getting ready to form the fish. It was as if God reached down, tapped me on the shoulder and said "turn the fish around". At that moment my mouth fell open in awe. He gave me a mental glimpse of what he had planned for the business, and it was big.
The business has started as one pendant design. But the vision I have for the FishingCross is a complete line of Christian inspirational products. In the future I would like to partner with Christian artists and designers to help bring their work to the market.
Soon after God gave me the design, I took on my brother Scott as a business partner. He is the soul reason the company is what it is today. It was his marketing and web design expertise that has carried us most of the way for the last 10 years.
In the spring of 2015 we came to the mutual decision to part ways in this business venture. We have come to an agreement of me buying him out. With lots of prayer and support the FishingCross will continue to grow beyond my capability (which isn't far).
I still work a full time job to pay the bills. Between June of 2011 and April 2015 I worked in the oil and gas field. For 3 1/2 years I was a roughneck on a drilling rig. For the last 8 months I was a safety consultant on a drilling rig. In April of 2015 I was laid off due to the low oil prices. I took the opportunity to work on the FishingCross business and also started my own business doing carpentry and handyman services in the Denver Metro area where I live with my wife and our 2 boys.
One day we expect to be in the mission field full time. I anticipate the FishingCross to be able to fully support us when it comes time. Along with supporting other missionaries and Christian based food and water projects.
We are a small business. I currently assemble, package and ship all orders that come through. If you need anything or have any questions feel free to email or call.
Please keep us in your prayers, this is bigger than I am capable of handling and it is only going to be through the grace and guidance of God that it will grow to its full potential.
In His Grace,
